Operating Table

An operating table is a specialized surgical bed where a patient is positioned for a surgical operation. It is a complex piece of equipment found in an operating room that can be adjusted for various patient positions, and may feature a radiolucent tabletop for image-guided surgery.

Modern tables are often electrohydraulically or electrically controlled, and designed to meet strict ergonomic and hygienic standards, with modular accessories to adapt to different procedures.

Operating Light

An operating light is a specialized medical device used in surgical suites and procedure rooms to provide high-intensity, shadow-free, and color-accurate illumination of a patient's body.

It is a critical piece of equipment that helps surgeons and medical staff see intricate details clearly, which is essential for successful and safe procedures.

Autoclave

An autoclave is a pressure chamber used for high-temperature and high-pressure sterilization, commonly in medical and laboratory settings.

It uses pressurized steam to kill microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, and spores, making it a reliable way to disinfect objects.

The process involves heating items with steam to a high temperature (typically between \(121\) and \(134\degree C\)), which denatures proteins in the microorganisms and destroys them.

Electro surgical Units

An electrosurgical unit (ESU) is a medical device that uses high-frequency electrical currents to cut, coagulate (cauterize), or destroy tissue during surgery.

The ESU works by generating heat within the target tissue, enabling precise surgical effects like cutting, stopping bleeding, and removing abnormal growths.

The device has an active electrode, a return electrode (grounding pad), and controls for the surgeon to adjust cutting and coagulation settings.

Endourology / Laparoscopy Systems

Endourology/Laparoscopy systems are minimally invasive surgical tools that use cameras and specialized instruments to view and operate inside the body through small incisions or natural orifices.

Endourology is performed through natural openings like the urethra, while laparoscopy involves making small incisions in the abdomen or pelvic area.

These systems, which include high-definition cameras, light sources, and various surgical instruments, allow for less trauma, faster recovery, and smaller scars compared to traditional open surgery

GI Endoscopy

GI endoscopy is a medical procedure that uses a flexible, lighted tube with a camera, called an endoscope, to examine the digestive tract.

It can be used to diagnose and treat conditions in the upper GI tract (like the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum) or the lower GI tract (like the colon).

Procedures are typically performed with a sedative and numbing spray, and may involve taking biopsies or performing treatments like stopping bleeding or widening strictures.

Open surgical sets

An open surgical set is a collection of sterile instruments and tools used for open surgery, which involves making an incision for a full view of the organs or structures.

These sets are specific to the type of surgery, such as an open heart or open shoulder set, and contain a variety of instruments like scissors, forceps, retractors, and scalpels.

Opening a sterile surgical set requires careful adherence to sterile technique to avoid contamination.
